Mr Tan is a senior advisor to Seraya Partners. He served 34 years in the Singapore Administrative Service, holding various key appointments, including Principal Private Secretary to the then-Prime Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong (from 1997 to 2000), and founding CEO of National Healthcare Group (from 2000 to 2004). He was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Development (from 2004 to 2011) and of the Ministry of Home Affairs (from 2011 to 2014). From 2014 to 2018, he was concurrently the Commissioner of Inland Revenue and the CEO of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. Mr Tan was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 1997 and the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2008 for his significant contributions to the Singapore Public Service. Mr Tan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Degree from the NUS and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Harvard University.
